Privacy Policy

Last updated: 13 May 2026

The Hunter App (“we”, “us”, “our”) is committed to protecting your privacy and complying with the Australian Privacy Principles set out in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth). This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.

1. Information we collect

We only collect information that is reasonably necessary to provide and improve the app. This includes:

  • Account details such as your name, email address and password (stored as a hashed value).
  • Map data you create in the app, including waypoints, tracks, routes, notes and photos you choose to attach.
  • Location data captured by your device while you have GPS tracking enabled. Tracking is opt-in and can be stopped at any time.
  • Device and diagnostic information (model, operating system, app version, crash logs) used to fix bugs and improve stability.
  • Email addresses submitted through the “Register your interest” form so we can notify you about access and updates.

2. How we use your information

  • To create and secure your account.
  • To store and sync your waypoints, tracks and other map data between your devices.
  • To send notifications you have opted into, such as hunt reminders or party updates.
  • To diagnose issues, prevent abuse and improve the product.
  • To send occasional product updates by email. You can unsubscribe at any time.

3. Location data

The Hunter App is offline-first. Where possible, location and map data stay on your device. Location is uploaded to our servers only when you actively share a track, sync to the cloud, or use a feature that requires server-side processing. We do not sell location data and we do not share it with advertisers.

4. Sharing your information

We share personal information only:

  • With other members of a hunting party when you explicitly share waypoints, tracks or messages with them.
  • With trusted service providers who host our infrastructure (for example, cloud hosting, push notifications, error monitoring), bound by confidentiality and data protection obligations.
  • Where required by Australian law, court order or to protect the safety of a user or the public.

5. Data storage and security

Data is encrypted in transit using TLS. Passwords are stored as salted, hashed values and are never visible to us. We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from misuse, loss, unauthorised access, modification and disclosure, but no system is completely secure.

6. Your rights

You can:

  • Access and update your account details inside the app.
  • Export or delete your waypoints, tracks and routes.
  • Request a copy of the personal information we hold about you, or ask us to delete your account, by contacting us at the address below.
  • Make a complaint about how we handle your information. We will respond within a reasonable time.

7. Children

The Hunter App is intended for users aged 16 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16 without parental consent.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated through the app or by email. Continued use of the app after a change means you accept the updated policy.

9. Contact

Questions, access requests or complaints can be sent to admin@mbapps.com.au.
